Inspiration in every stitch!

Ever wonder where artists get ideas for their jewelry or art? Me too! Here’s a little insight into my inspiration, which comes mainly from 4 things:

My Grandmother:My love of stitching began with my grandmother, who taught me how to knit, sew, and ignited my passion for fabric and textile. The look of the stitch, the way it disappears and appears again, the contrast between line and solid shapes kinda makes my heart flutter. I think grandma would be proud!

Nature:It’s the curve and form of a leaf and patterns of nature that inspire me most. The more imperfect, haphazard, and random it is, the more I’m inspired. Crazy, right?

A recent walk in the woods revealed an old piece of bark; gritty natural texture, organic, flowing pattern, a feast for my eyes, and the inspiration for my NEW collection.

My Pearl Collection, which incorporates line and asymmetry, is also inspired by nature and the drape; how it flows, curves, and falls.

Textiles: Fabric excites me! The fluidity of lines, the way the material flows and overlaps is never perfect, making me love it even more. I curve my metal pieces to recreate the flowing fabric and to add dimension and layers.

Architecture:Buildings inspire my jewelry. Yes ma’am! The structural elements and lines are fascinating to me. My favorite building in New York (I call it the “Diamond” building) was my inspiration for my Sew Weave necklace and my Mix and Match Layered Earrings. Can you spot the similarities?

I could go on for days about my inspiration!
